Our Gear
The gear we selected was all chosen with an eventual Atlantic crossing in mind, and as a result may have been overkill for the Great Lakes. However in the end we used almost all of it and were very happy with it. In rough order of importance, the things that most helped us:
- Roller rigged headsail
- Windvane self steering
- GPS
- Charts
- LPG Cooker and LPG Locker
- Waterproofs
Other stuff that came in very handy:
- Harnesses and jacklines
- Binoculars
And some stuff that we luckly never had to use:
- Knives
- EPIRB
- Life raft
- Spare main sail (original main sail) and try sail
- Radar reflector
So having gotten all this stuff we needed to get it onto the boat and that is detailed in the next section.
